I received a lovely gift yesterday and I cannot help but show it off.
I know you cannot see it, but the area on the pashmina that is solid is actually a lovely brocade. Just stunning! And the sock bag? Well, my April sock equipment is in it and ready to go. These are just so [...]

I’ve begun work on the back of the Sylvi coat. While looking over the charts I’d just get so overwhelmed, assuming I couldn’t do this at all. But once I got started I realized that the cables, while plentiful, are also quite intuitive. The chart is super clear. I am about halfway through the first [...]

1. Once your tooth stops hurting, remembering to take the antibiotics for it is nigh on impossible.
2. If you poke your nose where it doesn’t belong, you might get rewarded for your efforts. But some things may be seen that cannot be unseen.
3. The movie, “Knowing.” Know this…if you go see it, you will probably [...]

Or perhaps this post should be called “Pieces” as that is what it looks like to me.
Last evening I finished the right front of my coat, cast on for the back (but did not start knitting) and worked on a sleeve. This coat is a much faster knit than I ever expected. I kept believing [...]

I’ve had some pain in one of my teeth for awhile now. We are talking months. But it was bearable so I didn’t do anything about it. I figured I’d ask the dentist at my next check up. Unfortunately this week the pain became a bit more extreme. I figured it was time to go [...]

OK Kath, here you are:
I started with a provisional cast on, and knit the entire sock.
I then picked the stitches up from the provisional cast on, and worked an icord bind off:
Sorry about the poor picture, when I enlarged it, it did the jpeg thing and got grainy. You can still see how finished it [...]

I am sure everyone is about done seeing my daughter’s feet. But here they are anyhow! I finished up the cute socks, check out the adorable icord cuff!
That has brought me up to 4 pairs of socks during the month of March. 4 entries into the sock knitters annonymous group. I am pleased to take [...]

I’ve finished clue 3 of Bug’s mystery socks. Clue 4 is out now, and I’ve got a little bit of i-cord edging to do on the cuffs, but they look great so far! They are a bit too long for her, but I think this is good, since we are moving out of sock season [...]

Please understand that regardless of who felt what during my adventure, I just used the pictures I had to create the story. I just wanted to use the expressions on the faces of my friends.
Also, as a disclaimer, I was not falling off my chair due to wine, but due to the expansion of my [...]

As I mentioned, we had indian food night at my house. I had just recently finished the left front of the Sylvi coat. Now, to understand this next part, you have to understand how the coat is constructed. You slip the first stitch on the side in order that there is, hopefully, a nice tidy [...]

So I hosted a small indian food knit night at my house last evening. I just cannot get over how much fun I find it to be to have people into my own home. It is enjoyable and relaxing and all that Miss Bug needs to be entertained is right at our fingertips. Though I [...]

All the better to knit a coat with!
This is a half days progress on the left front of my coat. How quickly it knits up!
Now I just have to knit 110 more rows before I start the raglan decreases. No problem! If you want to see what the back might look like, go here, Umme [...]

I’ve started clue 3 of the Scheherazade stole. I’ve cast on the second half as well, as I had high hopes of keeping up with the second half. I haven’t been doing so well in that department though. I’ll take it to work to see if that helps at all.
I’ve not been working on it [...]

In sound!
Today, Bug did this:
And I did this:
While listening to the sounds of spring. I heard happy birds, the whir of my wheel, the sound of chainsaws clearing back yards, young girls a block away playing soccer, and predominately the sound of spanish chatter and singing on the rooftops paired with the semi rhythmic sound [...]

ends my month o’socks.
The pattern is spring forward, which is a fantastic little knit. It really is the “new monkey” and I am fairly certain I will knit it again. The yarn is my favorite, blue moon fiber arts socks that rock mediumweight in oregon red clover honey.
I do have Bug’s mystery socks still on [...]

Let me tell you how it went! I decided to work on the Sylvi coat since my month o’socks has me so done with sock knitting.
First, I finished knitting the cuff. Then, I pondered how the cuff is supposed to be put together, spent lots of time on ravelry trying to figure it out. Decided [...]

I’ve completed through clue 2 on both of Bug’s March Mystery socks. They are quite pretty and now that I can concentrate on them, I am eager to see what the rest will look like.
I did not pose her that way, this is how she wanted the picture taken.

I haven’t posted yarn drool pictures in a really long time. Since I’ve been on a yarn diet, there just hasn’t been much! But, now it is time for a special addition, and these do not apply to the yarn diet rules.
First up is my skein of Violet Green yarn, her shop is here. I [...]

These are my blackrose socks in sanguine gryphon Bugga. If you haven’t yet used this yarn, I highly suggest it! The 10% cashmere gives it a soft and almost lotiony feel, and it is nice and thick.
These socks have me convinced that my preference is a short row heel. I like the way the short [...]

One blackrose sock done. I love this yarn, 10% cashmere. It is very soft, thick, and comfy. I am really looking forward to getting the other done (tomorrow hopefully.)
I’ve also restarted the spring forward socks in BMFA socks that rock mediumweight. They had better fit!
I think, in the end I am having a successful month [...]

Pattern, Storyteller socks
I love these, they were a great little knit. I love knitting lace more than anything else.
These are for my mom, she requested this pattern specifically. I didn’t make them as large as I did the last pair for her. Hopefully they will fit perfectly this time.
I’ll have a blackrose sock to show [...]

Since I do not yet have a finished pair of socks to show off, I figure I had better show you the ones that are in progress.
My favorite thus far is my blackrose sock. The yarn is sanguine gryphon bugga, color oak timberworm. I love the name, and I love the color, but most of [...]

I’ve completed the first of my storyteller socks, and it feels like the sped right along. I have started the second sock and hope to be done in 2 days. I really enjoyed this pattern, and I love the result as well. [...]
